Film24, the Sky channel that’s all about movies, has secured the exclusive UK TV rights to screen one of the music industry’s most popular and star-studded events, the 43rd Annual  Country Music Association Awards, on Wednesday 18th November 2009 at 8pm on Sky channel 157.

The eagerly-awaited CMA Awards, which will be filmed live from the Sommet Centre in Nashville, sees superstars such as Taylor Swift, the Eagles and Keith Urban all nominated for major awards. Reigning CMA Male and Female Vocalist of the Year Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood also return for a second year to host “Country Music’s Biggest Night”.

Celebrity Awards presenters include NASCAR superstar driver Dale Earnhardt Jr; stars of ABC's 'The Middle'  Neil Flynn and Patricia Heaton; Julianne Hough; nominee Randy Houser (for both New Artist and Music Video of the Year for 'Boots On'); nominee Jake Owen (New Artist of the Year); Kellie Pickler; CMA Award winner LeAnn Rimes; and ABC News's Robin Roberts, co-anchor of 'Good Morning America'.

Performers already announced include some of the US country music’s biggest stars such as Carrie Underwood,  Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and Dave Mathews, Billy Currington, Vince Gill and Daughtry, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown Band, with more to be named soon.

The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 6,000 plus industry professional members of CMA, which was the first trade organisation formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958. The first CMA Awards Banquet and Show was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards were broadcast on NBC television for the first time - making it the longest running, annual music awards programme on US network television.

The 2008 CMA Awards ranked behind only the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards during the 2008-2009 season for awards shows among total viewers on US TV.

Winners of The 43rd Annual CMA Awards will be determined in a final round of voting by eligible voting members of the Country Music Association. CMA Awards balloting is officiated by the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP.
